Steve Molitor “The Canadian Kid”
My story began in Sarnia, Ontario where I grew up playing hockey, baseball and eventually boxing. The first time I stepped in the boxing gym at nine years old I knew I would be a champion and from that moment on I did whatever it took to be the best. As a child I would ride my bike every day across town, miss out on parties and other events. When I turned 20 I packed a hockey bag full of clothes and with no money moved into a tiny room in a Toronto boxing gym. From there I became the Canadian champ in 2002, the Commonwealth champ in 2002, the NABA champ in 2004, and the IBF World Champion in 2006 and again in 2010. There are four things that have made me the two time world champion I am today. These include hard-work, dedication, heart and support from everyone who has believed in me along the way. I have had to sacrifice and endure a lot to get to where I am but I still continue to train up to eight hours a day, follow a strict diet and give boxing everything I have. I used to do this for the love of the sport and although I still love boxing for the most part I have a family that means the world to me and I give 110% everyday so that they have everything. I have so many people to thank for my success but most importantly Allan Tremblay for all his hard work, my trainer Chris Johnson, a 1992 Olympic bronze medalist who re-built me into a professional champion, my dad and brother for making me the man I am today, my sons, Jetley and Steel, for giving me the drive to succeed and my beautiful wife, Tiffany, who has stood by me through thick and thin and always had my back.
Life after the ring doesn’t mean life away from the sport. The same instincts that carried me through my career – reading an opponent, spotting a weakness, feeling when the odds have shifted – turned out to translate almost perfectly to another arena: sports betting. I’d always paid attention to the lines on my own fights, and once I stepped back from competing full-time I started looking at matchups across boxing, MMA, hockey and football the same way I used to break down an opponent on tape. What began as a habit quickly became something I took seriously.
Joining this team as a resident expert felt like a natural next step. The editors were looking for someone who understood sport from the inside – not just the stats, but the mental game, the preparation, the small details most fans miss – and we clicked straight away. I don’t write about anything I don’t genuinely believe in, and I only put my name on bookmakers and markets I’ve tested myself. That discipline is the same one my trainer Chris Johnson drilled into me every day in the gym, and it carries straight over to the way I evaluate every operator and every pick I share here.
My job on this site is simple: give you honest, grounded analysis you can actually use. You’ll find my detailed bookmaker breakdowns, odds comparisons and matchday previews at sports-betting-canada.bet . Whether you’re new to sports betting or you’ve been following the lines for years, my goal is to share the same championship mindset that got me two world titles – do your homework, respect the risk, and never stake more than you can afford to lose.
